Breeding Gummy Dragon

The most efficient way to breed gummy is Jade + Star. This combination takes only 2 hours to breed so you can get a lot of tries in with it (especially if you have an upgraded hatchery!)

Mordaine attacked Mordaine with a Head Butt (6 str) and took off 9!
Mordaine has 21 HP left!
Mordaine counterattacks with a Head Butt (5 str) and takes off 7!
Mordaine has 23 HP left!

Jade + Star: 2 hour breed time, [fixed]% chance of gummy.
Laser + Dandelion: 2 hour breed time, [same fixed]% chance of gummy.
So I always refer to this like rolling a die.
Let us imagine we have two 6-sided dice and they require a roll of 1 to produce a gummy dragon. But the first die doesn't allow you to check for the result (whatever number you rolled) for 2 hours and the second die makes you wait 8 hours.
So if I asked this question: you have 2 identical dice. Will you pick the one that makes you wait 2 hours or the one that makes you wait 8 hours? You'd probably choose the 2 hour one because you'd want to see your result as soon as possible.
In this situation, Jade + Star is the 2 hour 6-sided die. But if you roll this die and land on 5... and land on 3... and land on 6... and then you say "dang, this combination doesn't work well... at least I have another combination to try" and then you pick the SAME 6-sided die but it makes you wait 8 hours instead, does this really make your chances better?
You still have to roll the same 1 to get the Gummy but now you have to wait longer. If you happen to land on a 1 right away with the 8 hour die, that's a matter of luck but you had the same chance of that with the 2 hour die.
So this is why I'd say... screw other combinations, just use the most efficient one!

i have plenty of time. I've tried to get a few dragons using the most efficient way and failed a few times in a row, but i tried a different way, waited 2-3 time longer and got it first try. I personally don't mind waiting.
Again you make the mistake of thinking that switching combinations somehow gives you a higher chance of getting the result.
I state again: this is completely, 100% FALSE. The act of 'switching' in of itself does NOT increase the chance to get the dragon.
I really don't think you understand what I said. If you just happen to get it after switching, that's what we call a coincidence but it has no meaning. You may have gotten it the very next try with the efficient combination, too. Equally much so.
Note: you actually wait 4 times longer and you get 4 tries with Jade + Star per every 1 try with Laser + Dandelion, so your chance of getting it in an 8 hour time period is 4 times better.
